WHY LEARN CPR
Cardiac arrests are common than we think, they can happen to anyone at anytime. According to American Heart Association (AHA), nearly 383,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests occur annually, and 88% of these cardiac arrests occur at home in the United States.
The figures are not known for Ghana but anytime someone dies suddenly; there is a 50% chance it was due to cardiac arrest. Many victims of cardiac arrest appear healthy with no known heart disease or other risk factors. Sudden cardiac arrest is not the same as a heart attack.
Sudden cardiac arrest occurs when as a result of a mechanical or electrical damage; the heart ceases as a pump and the person become unconscious, stops breathing and has no pulse. Heart attack occurs when the blood supply to part of the heart muscle is blocked. Heart attack is the commonest cause of cardiac arrest.
Knowing CPR allows you to save a family, a friend or a co-worker at home or the workplace.
Targeted Audience
